Welcome to Shumi Japanese Cuisine. Shumi in Japanese means ‘hobby’ which was first started by our Master Chef Aikasa in Somerville, New Jersey. Our owner and sushi chef, David Seo, is a close student working with Aikasa. As you step into Shumi, you will see the open bar and feel a sense of refreshing and clear atmosphere. Omakase is the chef-selected tasting menu of seasonal sushi and/or sashimi from the day’s catch. If you try the Omakase, the Chef will present each piece of sushi and give you a full experience behind each one. You will leave with a unique experience using all five of your senses.
