Bill Cosby’s appeal to overturn his 2018 sexual assault conviction was unanimously rejected by Pennsylvania judges on Tuesday.

Cosby’s legal team tried to get his conviction overturned based on multiple grounds, the main one being “the trial judge’s decision to let five other accusers of uncharged crimes testify against him to bolster prosecutors’ argument that Cosby had engaged in a pattern of ‘prior bad acts,’” reports USA Today.

The ruling concluded that there was no abuse of discretion, therefore the appeal was rejected.

“For all the aforementioned reasons, we conclude that the trial court did not abuse its discretion by admitting the (prior bad acts) evidence and, therefore, Appellant’s first claim lacks merit,” the ruling concluded.

Cosby was convicted on three counts of aggravated indecent assault in April 2018 and is currently serving a three to 10-year sentence at SCI Phoenix Penitentiary in Pennsylvania.

Cosby, who is currently 82-years-old, has been in jail for over a year now.

A spokesperson for Cosby said he is still in good spirits and remains hopeful after this rejection.

“Mr. Cosby remains hopeful and he stands behind his innocence,” Andrew V. Wyatt, a spokesman for the comedian, told Radar Online.
