Khadijah Davis told her mom she was going to the store Thursday evening to get some soup.

When she didn’t return home that night, her mom and siblings said they began to worry. The next day, Theresa McArthur called Syracuse police to report her daughter missing.

Syracuse police confirmed Monday night that Davis is missing, but a spokesman for the department said they don’t have reason to believe she is in danger at this time.

Her family, however, said they are very concerned.

“This is not her,” her sister Jacquasia Sholtz said. “She wouldn’t just get up and leave.”

Sholtz said her sister has never run away or been in any trouble. She usually calls or texts family if plans change, Sholtz said. And Davis — who celebrated her 18th birthday on Wednesday — was looking forward to her birthday party with family on Friday.

Instead, her family has spent the past four days searching for any sightings of Davis. They have asked local businesses for video surveillance; they’ve posted “missing person” fliers in stores and on telephone poles; and they’ve turned to social media, with hopes someone has seen or heard from Davis.

“This is just not something she would do,” Sholtz said.

The family also has checked phone and bank records. Davis’s last phone call, Sholtz said, was to her mother at 7:41 p.m. Thursday. “It was a normal conversation,” Sholtz said.

Her phone, which was partially charged when she left her Robinson Street home Thursday evening, is shut off, her family said.

Her family is concerned because Davis doesn’t have her medication with her, which her sister said she needs to regulate a medical condition.

“Something is not right,” Sholtz said.

The family is planning to resume their search on Tuesday. Sholtz said she and other family members plan to meet at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lincoln Park on Robinson Street. They invite anyone interested in helping with the search to join them.

Syracuse police ask anyone with information about Davis’s whereabouts to call them at (315) 442-5222.
