Southlake voters will have the choice of electing new candidates to city positions during the May 2 election. Four candidates are vying for two open Southlake City Council seats. Sabreena Hakemy and Kathy Talley are running for Southlake City Council Place 1. Former Southlake City Council member Randy Williamson and Victor Avila have filed for the Place 2 seat.

In addition to casting ballots for council members, Southlake voters will also decide on a $50 million city bond. The bond money will be used for city officials to buy land in Southlake and preserve open spaces, officials said.

Current council members in Grapevine and Colleyville seeking re-election are running unopposed. Kathy Wheat will keep her seat at Place 3 and George Dodson will remain in Place 4 on the Colleyville City Council. Chris Coy and Duff O’Dell will remain on the Grapevine City Council in Places 5 and 6, respectively.

Candidate filing for local elections closed at 5 p.m. Feb. 14.
